Just like riding a bicycle... with a little engine.

Nah most people with any form of awareness already have a fair idea of how to be on the road etc (i.e if you've ever been a passenger in a car and had your eyes open).

Just got to learn the clutch control, the observation and the set pieces and you'll do fine.

not a test, have a laugh.

The on site stuff drags on a bit but as soon as you get on the road the 2 hours flies by. It was over so fast, next thing I know I had my CBT certificate in my hand Thumbs Up

Maybe if people actually listened to this and the slow speed control stuff then people may not have so many problems in the future.

I never said I didn't listen. Most of the stuff he was telling me I already knew. All I was saying is that when you're doing the on site training it goes pretty slow, but as soon as you are out on the road time flies by Rolling Eyes

Never said it was, but, as you ended the sentence with:

It now is.

16.

Never been on the road before.

I think not, and let me bring your attention to your thread:

https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=136350

Preparation, speed, observations and road positioning all questionable.

I had been on BCF for 2 months before my CBT and had read quite a lot up on it.

I've been a passenger in a car and pillion on a bike. Yes, I know, it's not like riding a bike, but I had experienced the road in a sense.

Preperation: I'm not a mind reader, I didn't know he was going to drive in front of me.

Speed: I was doing about 15mph, surely a normal speed for a roundabout.

Observations: I wasn't looking behind me.

Road Positioning: I was in the correct lane for the junction I was leaving, I followed the line around that roundabout that everyone does.

What year are they both?

Personally I'd be going with the Katana. It just looks better and it's liquid cooled too, which is cool points in my eyes. Probably give you an extra 2mph on the top speed Laughing

Really though you should keep whichever one you'd like to be seen on and whichever one feels the best to ride.

The katana is a t reg 1999 and the Sym jet is a W plate 2000. Not doing my CBT on either as They do not have any MOT. I have ridden the Sym Jet at my dads but noticed that i have to bring the throttle round quite far before it starts moving. is this right or is there a problem?

Someone may have installed stronger clutch springs so that it revs up before the clutch engages.

I'd definately be taking the Katana. It's only a year older.

Does exactly what you said. It revs up so a lot before it moves. ATM my katana is completely stripped down as its been cleaned and engine being cleaned as well. Should be back together in a week or so. I think before i choose i will test them both at my dads.

Thanks for Advice mate.

Get the Katana, although MS, on a bike this small, water-cooling is just more crap to go wrong.

I know. When we took the engine apart the water pump was a bit dodgy... my dad looked for a new one of ebay.. and found nothing. I Already have the two bikes atm. But i might insure the Sym Jet so i can ride to work rather than pay 10 pound a day for taxi and then use the money earned to put Katana on road and sell Sym Jet?

Thanks for the help/advice btw guys.

Come to think of it, bollocks to the Kat, sell it and spend the money on a can of matt black pain (no really), give that awful looking Sym a spray and get it on the road.

Air cooled FTW
