Some advice on parking, please. Thanks.

Where is best to park in Birmingham, if I'm meeting some mates in the city centre?

I've found this map, (pdf file)
https://www.birmingham.gov.uk/Media/biking.pdf?MEDIA_ID=55517&FILENAME=biking.pdf&NOCACHE=TRUE

but I've no idea how busy these bays will be, what are my chances of being able to find a space in those?

Oh, and the same website mentions a couple of buslanes being bike lanes too on a trial basis, how's that working out?

City center bike bays are mostly half full, I have never had the slightest problem finding a space, we are a civilised city, not at all like London.

I've walked post some of those bays. Most offer a good chance of getting a spot. It's not like say in London where all the bays get filled up. Not too many bikers around in b'ham city centre from what I've noticed. There are plenty of locations to park, so you won't have much trouble.

Worse comes to worst, stick it in Aston uni. It's got security and CCTV and is 10mins from the bull ring.

Then again the one way system is an absolute bugger!

You can normally park quite easily at new street station - go to the place where all the taxi's pick up and drop off on the bull ring side

The Mailbox carpark's also pretty good, as they're free for bikes once you've navigated the gaps, and there's a decent amount of room.

If you park on Brindley Place car park, there are proper bays with bars to chain your bike to.

Go and see the chappies in the security booth for your ticket and they will watch your bike for you. They've always been more than helpful for me Thumbs Up

There are 2 bays around colmore row that I tend to use (opposite the cathedral) and theres one that doesnt seem to be on the map down by the markets right outside the bullring thats really handy (edgbaston St oposite Debenhams)) but its only small (4-5 bikes) Thumbs Up

Yeah, I'll give that a miss then Laughing I went along the M6, and in through the wrong end, and round the one way system, twice, and past the football club and cricket ground trying to get to Moseley. (where i got a flipping parking ticket - hence the need for this thread) I'll head for the station and take it from there.
