Now GB has had some time to "settle in", in hindsight who do you think had been the better PM/leader?
After yesterdays "U-Turn" on the 10p tax rate the BBC reported mutterings of "this wouldn't have happened under Tony Blair". Which could be an indication that Browns leadership is under threat.

Neither they are as bad as each other, the only difference is that TB to some people had some charisma and thus could deflect some of the blows that were struck against him.
Ie when Walterwolfgang was arrested as a terrorist , he said yeah whatever....

Neither.
Blair sent our armed forces to war based on Lies, then denied he ever lied, then the guy that wrote the report and called Blair a liar was found suspiciously bereft of life.
Gordon Brown has betrayed the very people that Labour was founded to fight for by doubling the tax burden upon them whilst pandering to the rich.

Oh, I dunno - he's making a grand job of stuffing the bank shareholders' wallets with our taxes. Which have magically become suddenly available when they weren't previously available for plugging the pensions hole.
400 years ago, they knew how to sort out these fuckers...
Quote: | It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place, which you have dishonored by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice; ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government; ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money.
Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess? Ye have no more religion than my horse; gold is your God; which of you have not barter'd your conscience for bribes? Is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth?
Ye sordid prostitutes have you not defil'd this sacred place, and turn'd the Lord's temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices? Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation; you were deputed here by the people to get grievances redress'd, are yourselves become the greatest grievance.
Your country therefore calls upon me to cleanse this Augean stable, by putting a final period to your iniquitous proceedings in this House; and which by God's help, and the strength he has given me, I am now come to do; I command ye therefore, upon the peril of your lives, to depart immediately out of this place; go, get you out!
Make haste! Ye venal slaves be gone! So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors. In the name of God, go! |

"Education. Education. Education."
So, now we have teachers on strike because the Govt. won't give them a 4% payrise. Wasn't too long ago we had Firemen/women on strike because of the total lack of payrise. I don't know if anyone saw the pictures in the paper of RAF Brize Norton recently, but that's a total mess.
They're clearly doing a great job of looking after the people that look after the country. What hope is there for the "normal" people? ____________________ <CBT passed 16th Sept 2007><Theory Test passed 11th Oct 2007><Practical Test passed 19th Apr 2008>

Nope.... they forgot about something called the ruthlessness of humans in that teachers got a fairly big rise a few years ago, but as with negotiations giving in just means that they demand more in the future.
The general issue is one of inflation, CPI does not include housing taxes , food and has a luxury weighted measure that assumes things always get cheaper , ie an IPOD 2 years ago was erm £100 for example , CPI calculates it at £75 now thus supressing inflation
RPI is better but still not perfect @ 3.8% . thus you get less than CPI or RPI ineffect it is a pay cut...
The bread index + petrol index is best , the loaf I buy is the same as last year its now £1.32 , it was 98p last year , petrol this time last year was also about 95p and is now 111p thus inflation is between 12-25%.
The government are going to try inflate their way out of the 3.26 trillion of debt, its the only trick they have left, 3.26 trillion seems alot infact it is alot, but if you devalue your currency by 50% the 3.26 trillion isn't a comodity like oil or rice, and thus in effect is 1.63 trillion after severe inflation.
As said what this means is that by 2020 people will be paid £100 an hour min wage, unfortunately a loaf of bread will be £50, it happened in the 1970s it'll happen again.
Older people always say half a crown would buy enough to go out on the town have a meal go to the cinema have a few pints and get the bus home.
by 2030, we'll be saying to young 'uns you don't know you are born, when I was a lad, I was paid £80 a day, but £80 used to buy alot of stuff then , while in 2030 will buy NOTHING , which is why nobody should save for a pension £200 a week sounds alot now for a pension , but by 2050 it'll be worthless. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die.
