Alrite Jon,
I just had an idea that perhaps you could suggest to the people at your work, as everyone knows computers and the internet is becoming alot more common in households these days and good advice about peoples bikes is extremely valuable for anyone rather than just taking down to the garage and getting info out of someone who just wants to empty your wallet before you tell them what the problem is your bike! Shocked

As you know websites like these are a gem for getting good advice and finding cheap ways of overcomin your problems with your pride and joy..... Very Happy

What I'm getting at is perhap Performance Bikes could do an article about motorbike websites saying which sites are very helpful technically, generally a good laugh to talk to and etc etc.....
And perhaps they could mention this forum too Wink.

Its just an idea that I thought might be worth mentioning, Cheers Laughing

I like the idea and have been thinking along the same lines. If all goes well with the current project something will be done about that as its computer related, though it takes a lot of time and money to set up new ideas, even simple things.

Also, I'm only working alongside the team at the moment, and hopefully if the project gets the go-ahead and is successful I can then deal more with ideas people give me. I rarely get the chance to go to the office due to them being in Peterborough (2hours drive) though I do frequently keep in contact via phone and e-mail, so I will ask your question and ideas tomorrow when I chat to them.

Are you sure we want the forum mentioned in a national mag?
The last forum I used to frequent that got mentioned ended up being over run by trolls Mad

Having it linked to in a big mag like that will mean the server will receieve a very large beating.

I think with things like that, it would be best to check with the site owner, as it will be thier pocket having to pay for the bandwidth spike!

it was only a suggestion and I'm sure only good things can come from a review like that, It could give Kornel a great opportunity to start his own company and make some money off this site, if the response is a good one? Smile

Yeah, im sure it would mean good things, new people, new minds, ie, forum growing.

But as the forum grows, it costs money, which would need to paid for by Korn. As for making money... only real ways to do this is advert (/me spits on popups), donations (which random first visit people wont make), or selling stuff, like t-shirts, which was discussed, and planned,b ut never happened Laughing

maybe we could experiment with visordown, and see if it breaks that Razz

Hmmm, not sure om this one. In a way the mention would be god, but i remember what happened to the MCN forum when that changed. At first it was pretty cool, like this is now, but then it was in the mag loads and got popular. I havnt been on since.

Well, actually mate I would.

And whats the point in advertising it in a mag (along with other sites) only to start charging? Thats the way to lose membership, not gain it.

I hate the MCN forum. Its crappy, slow, and hard to navigate around.

Charging £5 for access to the forum I dont think would work. Ive seen on other forums, where if you donate, you get further access to other forums or something. But saying you need to pay a fiver to come in, wouldnt work, as no-one new would ever join, and old members will just go elsewhere. Hell, if you had to pay a fiver, Id set my own forum up for free Razz

Dontations do work though

I wouldn't mention this site, firstly, they probably wouldn't listen, and secondly, it means spending more time and money.

Cleaner or sometimes when I'm very lucky I do actually get to be the tea boy Very Happy

Nah, I'm working on a project for PB, and as I've said before, if all goes well I'll be able to boast about what I do for them! But for now, I'm not meant to say due to magazine rivalry and all that buisness.

So at the moment I'm not employed by them, so don't get paid Sad , I'm working 'alongside' the team. But all will come out very shortly!!

Dean - He reviewed a VFR400 Special in the December issue - over six and a half grand spent on tuning. Sound like the one?

Oh know, all it had was a paintjob that cost more than a grand and RC30 carbs, that is a dissapointment JON, as everyone on the on 400Greybike website reckoned it was crap and people on the website had better bikes than the one shown in that issue..
As from what I recall from memory there was about 2 sentances about that bike hardly the article that Dale Lomas promised... Mad

Sorry for being a whingebag Jon and its nothing to do with you but I had my hopes up for that article Crying or Very sad

Anyways do you think in the possible futeure PB could do a suspension set-up giude for the NC30? Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Wink

I think they should, cos of the amount of NC30's that people use not only on the road but as trackday tools.

just my opinion...

They have done a Tuning Guide for the NC30 (not set-up), that was also in the December issue and you can get re-prints of the guide, quite a lot of useful stuff about the bike.
