.. From only knowing the frame number?

Is there ANY way at all that you can find out a the reg no. of a bike from the frame number even if it involves paying for it?

Ya see, i got a letter and load of forms today from the dvla telling me about an SVA and q-plate and registration fees and all that, but ideally i dont wanna go down that road.. so was thinking of usuing another frame i have, but with no plate Sad , trying to find the reg plate, send off for a V5 then either swap everything over (or stamp the number on my frame)

Is there any way?

Ant.

maybe contact the manufacturer, and see if they have records

i know they keep track of this sort of thing for recalls purposes, but not sure for how long

Hi,
I should be able to find that out on a system I have at work (It's for cars, but pretty sure it should work for a bike). What's your Frame No ?

Couldn't you just apply for a period plate instead of a Q?

Ill try giving Suzuki a ring, d'ya reckon they'd keep it for 28 years?

Big_Ham; I never requested a Q-plate they decided it for me, I would have preferred an age related plate but i never knew it was down to me? I was told that they would make the decision.

Aaa, ok. I know that when people restore classic cars they usually get period plates, not Q plates.

Hi,
Just tried them two, but no joy I'm afraid. It could be that the system I have wont work for bikes, or they may no longer registered with DVLA, or may have been registered as scrapped. Sorry.

Have you asked DVLA the question? Normally if you have no log book you can just send of for one for £19. Surely they should be able to find the reg number from the frame number? I can find out any car reg number from just the chassis number, so I'd of thought they would have a similar system?

Do you think that theres any truth in this?

Ive been told you can get a HPI check for £25 or so, using just the frame number, then from that you can get registration plate?

Anyone heard of this?

Ant.
