I am after a few for my 2000 hornet 600 as the ones along the swingarm (rear brake hose) are all rusty. I was after getting gold ones or something along those lines (no pun intended).

Now I know you can get them on ebay and tastynuts (probolt) but I was after some that are pretty much the same as the originals, just with better corrosion resistance. Apart from going through david silvers or honda to get the originals has anyone got any ideas?

Cheers!

Gold ones are just plated and will corrode,

I normally have stainless steel ones in stock but am out at the moment, they tend to be cheaper than the plated ones as well.

Are these direct replacement to the ones that are on my hornet? I.e exactly the same but stainless?

If so then I may be interested when you have stock in again. Let me know, cheers.

I couldn't tell you tbh. They are standard P-clips that take a 6mm bolt for fitting and the internal diameter can be pretty much whatever you like.

Fair enough, so cannot they not be purchased in gold anodized or something to offer some corrosion resistance? I don't usually like anodized but when it's gold it looks totally different. Cheers!

Hi

Stainless would be very corrosion resistant. Not sure how easy it would be to cosmetically plate stainless steel.

All the best

Keith

Going off topic, but technically what is the problem with plating stainless?

All the best

I've no idea but the way you said it seemed to say there wasn't a commonly adopted approach to doing it and I personally haven't seen and colour plated stainless stuff around....

....waits for link Embarassed
