What are your work outs and do they work?.

I'm getting a tad bored with mine, though I feel fitter (yeah ok I did say last year no more exercise ever!), I lack time to vary things as I have 75 minutes tops and 2 hours on Sat+Sunday

I tend to interval run on the treadmill varying between 7.2 and 11 speed for 20-25 minutes with a 1 minute slower bit every 3-4 minutes.

Usually covering about 2.5 miles to 3 miles if I utterly slog it.

Then go and do a couple miles on the stationary bikes at maximum resistance.

Then go over to some general loose weights 20 reps to failure 3 times 15 kilos per dumb bell (weakling I know and somebody called me a wuss and I managed) , same on the back muscle machine but with 40 kilos, etc , all to failure ie I can't do another.

Seems semi effective in that I'm gaining alot of weight yet eating the same and my shirts feel a bit tighter on the arms.

So whats your punishment schedule down the gym?. Looking not to become beef cake but to be alot fitter as I realised I was so out of shape after erm a heavy scoring session, and kept being woken up for more again and again. Laughing

I do 15 mins HIIT on my new exercise bike, and then hit the weights at low weight (30kg bench and 15kg flyes) for about 10 - 15 mins. I intertwine these with sets of 30 sit ups (Marine style) and around 15 press ups (Marine style). Do some dips, some more weights and then finish up.

I do this around 4 times a week, or more if I don't practice my Muay Thai.

Do HIIT though, great for fat burning and VO2 increase, and will give you the stamina you are after.

** waits for laughs **

But I just started training at home doing Tae Bo (billy blanks workout DVD's) new one out called Bootcamp with resistance bands, £25 from Tesco. It's a all over resistance workout in one DVD, cardio in another, ab workout in the third DVD... so covers everything. It suits me as 1) I hate going to the gym and my workouts are never effective there and 2) can do it at any time that suits me.

I've just bought some weights, need to get a bench then I'll start doing weights a few nights a week, also got to clear my garage out again so the punch bag can go back up! Oh and hope to play squash a night or two per week.

Overall I think that covers all muscles/cardio/resistance and weights so it should be effective if I stick to it....

www.britmilfit.com

That's what I do, better than the gym, good fun and I actually lose weight. Plus get fitter, get more social circles and take in fresh air, not some air conditioned crap. Thumbs Up

Hey,

I do a 3 day split also. Consists of:

Warm Up
-10 minutes running level 12.5
-3x20 Situps
-Abs machine

Monday Chest and Biceps
Wednesday Legs and Triceps
Friday Back and Shoulders

Absolutley love the gym. Great after a stressful day in the office. Started 2 months ago. Last month i weighed in at 11St 8Lbs and 12% fat. Over the last month weights gone up to 12St 7Lbs and fats gone down to 11%.

I'm certainly not massive but you do notice the difference. Great sense of achievment lifting that little bit more weight or running that little bit further. And i love the muscle ache the next day.

Does anyone else find it addictive?

Shaun.

Run about 3 miles 4 days a week, upping to 5 sometimes with 5-10kg in my rucksack.

Do a series of bodyweight excercises 4 times a week which covers everything. 3 sets of each, 8-10 different excercises depending on how I feel.

Train Muay Thai once to twice a week.

Do 50 sit ups and 50 push ups every night, should do them morning but I'm too lazy.

Most people do and advise me to do seperate parts of the body at once, i.e. legs monday, arms and back tuesday etc.

But I generally cba, i do this thrice a week if not more.

15 minutes on treadmill @ 11 slowly increasing to 15.
15 minutes on bike @ 7 slowly increasing to 11.
10 minutes on ski-like thing that supposedly does your abs @ 7 then 3.

Cardio done.

I generally go through all the muscle machines, do 2 sets of 12 on each and then move onto the smith machine.

5 rep bench @ 90kg.
5 rep squats @ 90kg.
12 rep deadlifts @ 120kg.
12 rep Bicep curls with 20kg dumbells.

Then off for a swim, spa, jacuzzi and sauna.

I love my new gym. Thumbs Up
