well today was the first time I crashed the RS, and through no fault of my own. I was riding down the road at about 25mph and some twat in a BMW decided to pull out on me, after I saw him, and we made eye contact. Evil or Very Mad I dropped the bike on the left in a mix of blind panic and heavy breaking, I wish I had hit him and got him on insurance now.

damage to the bike: broken clutch lever, broken indicators on left side, twisted forks, bent handlebars and a broken gear change lever.

damage to me: nackered knee, it went under the bike when i dropped it and now I cant walk properly.

I would take a picture of the bike, but I dont want to look at it because it makes me feel sad, and my camera was in my jacket and got broken when i fell Rolling Eyes

Cheers
John

well i say twisted forks, basically, the steering is fucked, which makes me suspect that something in the yoke set has moved somewere.

ill give it a once over before i take it out again.

The forks have probably twisted in the yokes.

Happened to my MT after I came off. Loosen the yoke bolts and re-align the front wheel. Should work if nothing else is bent, it did for me Wink.

As Matt says, sounds like the forks are twisted in the yokes. The same happened to the RXS100 when I binned it - all I did was to grip the front wheel between my legs and use the bars to straighten it.

Hope you got the BMW driver's details. Not sure what the law is in cases like this but surely he must be at least partly to blame if he causes you to brake so hard as to lose control. Driving without reasonable consideration for other road users maybe?!?

The two vehicles don't have to make physical contact for you to claim from the other driver if he/she was at fault.

Are there any CCTV cameras in the rough area? It can't be that hard to track the car down if you look at camera tapes in the area filming around the time of the accident.

John, I have what I assume are original indies that I took of the front of mine to put some old mini ones on.

If they're any use you can have em for postage, or I'll bring em to R&S if you can wait till then...? Karma

cheers for the offer mudskipper, sorted the indis now. the weren't really broken, more bent out of place and the wiring ripped, not too hard to fix (gotta love hondas, theyre hardcore Cool )

just got to fix the few bulbs that seem to have died, the speedo, and the bent bars.

lee, cant put any weight on my left knee, and I seem to have sprained both shoulders when I was trying to hold it up/pick it back up, the left one seems worse, but thats probably down to the pikey brick incident.
ah well, its got me day off college Laughing

Cheers
John
