do you need to remove the fuel tank to replace the air filter?

If there is two of you then one can hold it out of the way without disconnecting everything, if it's just you take it off it'll be easier and less chance of damage. It's better to take it anyway, gives you a chance to see everything under there is OK and give it a wipe down.

You can do it by undoing the two side panel fixings,pulling the tank back and tilting upwards.
