Nothing at all. Can you tell what capacity an engine is from looking at it? Neither can plod.

i dont think any manufacturers use ''malossi'' or similar from stock.

if it were me, id read that on the barrels and get suspicious, that and half the time the size is stamped on the head.

if you look hard, you can find ones that have 49cc stamped on them.

saying that, theres a twat at college with L plates who put an XR250 engine in an XR125, and you can hear one hell of a difference. im suprised hes still on the road. cops must be thick as shit.

True, its only when he gets caught doing 60 he might get in trouble.

And are police really going to look at the head if they stop him? They wont know what to look for anyway

I suppose, but it would take a right Jobsworth copper to do you. If I were a plod and I'd pulled a 'youf' on a scooter and I knew it had been bored out, I really wouldn't take any action. I mean it's 0.02 of a litre!! What power gain does that give you? I really don't know put probably about 1/2 a horsepower. Anything that means it can actually keep up with traffic is safer IMO anyway.

Bored up engines usually have different sound from normal. If the police likes bikes, he may notice it.

Why bore up kit makers are not exposed? Is it legal if the rider has full licence?

The risk is low, but there is always risk, in the same way i never restricted a bike when i was on a 33bhp license, i had a 133bhp bike on that. Smile.

Worst that could happen if one does notice is getting done for riding un licensed and uninsured. The bike will be impounded then unless he is very lucky and may get a section 59. If he is caught again the bike will be impounded (his number will be on the ANPR for a while to stop/check to make sure he is complying with his licence).

If he is doing anything over 30mph at 16 they may stop him as mopeds are not allowed over 30.

Surely theres a loophole there somewhere as it says on that page can be up to 50cc and the design speed to be around 30mph.
How can you control the design speed, ive seen alot of peds that as standard without being touched engine wise do more than that..?

Im deres'd. i dont think it matters that much unless they clock you doing well over what you should be and investigate further, or your a mouthy little prick, as my brother is with his boy racer car lol, they always like to have a snoop at his car engine, and ask why it dosnt look or sound standard. ive heard of once before police seizing the bike this was a rs125 and ripping apart the block to check and remove uprated parts..

The old plods wont notice the difference on it. I got pulled (sort of) by a plod in this village who was doing a speed trap. I was crapping it untill he told me it was because I had my full beam on (I prefer having it on because it makes my easier to see!).

My bike has no mirrors (its a long story but I will do soon).
Has no indicators on the front (they are in the mirrors)
Is derestricted.
Has no L plate on the front.
Has a race exhast.

And I switched on to low beam and he sent me on my way.

If you're bothered you can file any markings off the cylinder then paint it black

The UK police rarelt test bikes (aprt from hampshire's new dyno) but you can get round this by fitting a switchable restrictive CDI. Flick a switch and now the bike only does 30mph

Because, we can all program ecu's cant we?
or get overly charged for a power controller, and likely we wouldnt have enough time to change it over before it got seized/tested

i find the whole, if the police stop you,
steal your carb and run for the hills does the job,
then go to the police station and say
"when i was stopped the other day i had no idea i had taken this part of my bike with me" and you give them the carb back re restricted. its a 110% certanty it must work!!!

Now seriously your ecu idea wouldnt work on another level like if you get spotted by a unmarked copper, and he just keeps up with you saying doin 45, then you notice and slap on your 30mph res and realise your now fucked as hes speed checked you whilst behind.

With the commercially available CDI's you just plug in, swapping for the standard. Dial on the front to chose the revs and a remote switch to turn the restricter on or off. There's even fancy ones to wire into your break wire, so tap the lever say 5 times and the restricter gets turned on or off.
So if they stuck your bike on a dyno it would look legal. Though if they wanted they could seize it, and rip it apart to measure the bore, doubt they'd do this unless you'd been in a serious accidcent though.

As you say though if you clock you going over 30mph it could be a bit of a giveaway. You could just say the design speed is 31.5mph (the law) which overuns slitghly downhill, then I guess they'd have to actaully prove the bike had been modified?

I havnt heard of those ecus,
link me if you can find one on the internet

Theres probably a threshold on that law like speed cameras,
like 10% ontop, so if you got caught doing 50 or whatever your totally wankered. and often ground off and polished/painted parts are more suspicous id say because there would be no markings on it at all!

End of the day if you have pee'd the police off enough for them to get that picky they will find something to "do" you for

Most police are okay, pass the attitude test when they stop you and you are fine most the time as long as you werent taking the piss with speed. (90mph passed a school would be a bad idea)
