So err yeh, my bike wont go past 5k revs in second, its a 1999 derbi gpr 50. I got a a new throttle cable for it (but the length was slightly different) so i think there must be some slack somewhwere, is there any way i can sort this out? Tweaking adjusting?

if its too long, then sometimes you can adjust it either from the handlebars or the carb itsself.

have a scout around for some sort of locking nut adjustment at the carbs.

does the throttle feel easier to twist at first, then gets harder?

2 strokes usually have 2 throttle cables, one for the 2 stroke pump, and one for the carb. if one is slack, then it will feel easier as only one is being pulled.

And does it go past 5K in other gears ?

If yes then throttle isnt your issue.

What does it do at 5K ?
