Hi all!

It has been a while since posting here; I've been watching though Cool

I am looking to purchase another bike very soon (hopefully a VFR 800). My question is that I still have one year left on my 33bhp restriction; so if I wanted to test ride say a VFR 800 would they need to restrict it?

This would seem a lot of hassle; especially if I didn't like the ride and said thanks but no thanks Laughing I couldn't see them going through the hassle anyway.

Replies much appreciated!

Thanks for the advice.

I will probably just try it on then; the worst they can do is say no after all and if they think they are likely to get a sale then they will be more likely to take the risk Cool I hope anyway Rolling Eyes Thumbs Up

Do most dealers let riders on restricted license's test bikes out that are more then 33bhp? Im currently riding a fazer but after something more sporty.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

It's against the law. You'll only get a test ride if they don't ask or don't care. Either way you won't be insured.

Sorry.

If you really want to take a test ride, just don't tell them your restricted.

This is totally illegal, as you'd effectively be uninsured and unlicensed.

Only do it if your confident you won't bin it!

A lot of dealers that like to keep their good reputation, won't let you ride the bike away until you have shown them valid insurance. Unless you have someone insured to ride it for you, or you are going to trailor/van it home.

Well I was planning to ride it home provided I have decided that it is the bike for me.

I would get insured within a matter of minutes over the telephone and as insurance companies don't take into account 33bhp restriction then it should be fine.

I am aware though that if I am involved in a high speed crash or something like that then the insurance company would go through the bike with a fine tooth comb so technically the insurance is invalid anyway; but in the eyes of people in general, I would have valid insurance Rolling Eyes Smile

Well that's fucking magic then. You have a high speed accident, put someone in a wheelchair and "technically" have no insurance, you know to help them with the rest of their lives. You miserable git.

The insurance would still pay out to the third party even if they did find your bike was derestricted.

Test rides when you're still on 33bhp, dealers will let you if they think you're actually serious about buying the bike. No dealer is going to get the bike restricted just so you could test ride it, you'd be test riding something that by the book you're not licensed for blah blah blah. If they think you're serious about buying the bike then they should find a way, if they think you're just wanting to try out faster bikes then forget about it.

Don't do it. Wait till you are free from the strains of your restriction.
