Is there a way to find out what denier fabric is used in particular brands of textile jackets/trousers??
I`ve been reading some stuff today (yeah AGAIN..lol) that`s got me a bit worried about some of the gear sold in the shops!

And why are so many manufacturers using polyester outer shells now instead of the obviously stronger ballistic nylon???

and if anyone`s got any technical data that shows the tensile strength/abrasion resistance differences between cordura, polyester and nylon...i wouldn`t mind having a look..
cheers

Looked at the Hood Jeans site and they quote 14 ½ Oz Denim for the K7s.

Both the Hood and Draggin Jeans use Kevlar, from what I remember Hood use more of the stuff.

Not sure if that answers your question but by coincidence I was looking today for a new pair of textile trousers for the bike that I could also wear at work while in the office.

Thumbs Up

i never really saw the draw to hood or draggin jeans,
i basically never wear protective pants, just normal jeans normally unless its pissing down with rain,
and when ive crapped off in jeans, they have held up well and havn't really ended up with grazing, its more the impact of hitting the deck than anything else, which kevlar re-inforced jeans are not going to help, and those draggin and hood jeans, are a really bad cut, fine if your a midget or really fat with short legs but other than that, i think ill stick with regular jeans Thumbs Up

I would expect the manufacturer to list the fabric weight on their website. This one BRMC lists the Rukka jacket as Cordura 500D, some jackets are reinforced with 1000D at the elbows and shoulders etc...

Have a root about on the websites for the jacket you're interested in, they're usually happy to crow about the standards it meets, and how it's better than the competitor's.
