To cut a long story short, I have a Yamaha Passola 50 for my mum she thinks its to slow!. So ive checked the exhaust, no little washer or nothing to be fiddled with, tuned the reed valves, is there anything else, also i noticed theres a lot of rubber around the carb mount an the reed valves, could i cut that out for more petrol flow or will it wreck it. many thanks dan45 an my mum!

inside the exhaust there are lots of baffles,,
but before you go about buying a new exhaust (the only way of getting them to go faster)
decoke your exhaust, with the old pasola and the honda nifty fiftys they need to be done every couple of thousand miles,
whip down to tesco and grab some caustic soda, pull the exhaust off plug 1 end with a spud and then fill the pipe up with a mix of water and caustic soda, leave it sit for an hour or so, empty and rinse, chuck the can back on and then go for a blast,
should be like a new bike Very Happy
beware caustic soda burns Crying or Very sad so wear rubber gloves

Not sure if this has been covered but you say you were cocking about with the reeds and that,

is there carb restrictors on that?
or i dont know crap all bout peds but i hear about variator restriction, or not a good enough variator,

Would be best to wait for one of the more knowledgable ped riders reply! Laughing

totally agree, its not a sports model, got nothing to do with its age, its just doesn't have much in the way of cylinder porting, made to be reliable transport, in the same way more modern stuff like a kymco fever will never go as fast as a speedfight or an mbk nitro, it just isn't a very technical engine, your mom needs a different scooter, or get the old one gas flowed lol
