I have found a couple of lanes in Lowton and Abram, problem is they are only about a mile long each, so a few minutes later it's all over. Story of my life!!!!

There is a large area of slag heaps in Abram which apprear to back on to the vast heaps of Crankwood. Crankwood is now a serious no go area with heavy policing, so even though there is no physical restriction to the Abram side maybe they are policed with a similar attitude.

I would be happy to show you where I mean one Sunday by arrangement.

Have a look on google earth, then have a ride up and chat to the guys there.

I flew over the track in Astley, then drove up, as it happens the owner can't insure the track for practice, only race meets. I offered to sign a disclaimer but he couldn't do it.

They do have a meet for enduro bikes though, I just don't really fancy racing the DR. I'd rather do something a bit more laid back than that.

That's George's Lane isn't it? Rivington, especially the Pike itself, has been badly damaged in last year or so by inconsiderate 4x4 drivers. It's probably best not to ride or drive there.

I'd suggest getting one of these maps, I got one for my local area and found loads of Byways that were hidden away.

Yeah it's a bloody disgrace and one reason why there are fewer and fewer green lanes to ride on. I'm not saying it's all 4x4 drivers fault everytime by any means, but in this case it blatently was.
