The bike is still rideable and i didnt shout at her i just said she should of been looking where she was going etc. i didnt give her an earful badly i think you all took that the wrong way and yes i think they might write it off as the bike is £2885 brand new from the shop so its over half the price of the bike just to repair some panels, ive duck-taped the front ones to hold them on for the time being and i still ride it around just fine
Also i appreicate her giving me the details was just a little annoying (not being a morning person and my pride and joy being broken that badly) but i didnt scream in her face just told her to keep an eye out next time etc. always check |

£1500 will get you a test, and a half decent bike if you look around hard enough ____________________ Past - CG125 ,KR1S, SV650s, Street Triple R - Current - Duke 390

Unlucky, if i were you id phone up aprillia if they ever pick up,
or a local bike shop to enquire for you, to see quotes for the fairing pieces you need,
remember to ask for like front nose cone, and other parts
then ask for a complete fairing set as it might be cheaper theraticlly to buy a whole set for any other offs that may happen.
Unlucky,
As has been said just thank god shes left insurance details as if she had drove off you wouldnt of known, and be in a bit more of a piss about it ____________________ Past: '05 Peugeot XPS '99 Aprillia RS125 '94 FZR600R

Know how you feel, I had someone reverse into the R6 last month at work, although came off a lot lighter, only scrapes to the rhs of the bike. Still waiting for the insurance to sort it
When I rang her she started getting arsey about it being parked stupidly (It wasn't) It was a friday evening and she was blatantly rushing to get home. ____________________ 2005 Yamaha R6

If it needs repair it`ll more than likely go straight to the dealer/garage/repair centre and stay there till they get the go ahead for the claim and the new parts arrive etc.
he`ll only be offered a courtesy bike once she admits fault to her insurers and they process the claim |
For me, riding a bike is about riding; the enjoyment of riding / utilitarian values. As I'm not looking at the sidepanels of the bike, my enjoyment of taking a corner right or being able to get to my destination in half the time is not reduced if'm on a 20 year old bike with side panels held on with gaffa tape, or a brand new bike.
While I appreciate that for some people a lot of the enjoyment comes from owning a shiny thing, I suspect many of them would enjoy 'bikes' more if they tried to move away from this.
So for me; yes, I would be quite happy to ride a bike like that and many times have done. Later today I will be riding a zx9 that has a dented home-painted tank, cracked rear fairing in a different colour, front mudguard in yet another colour, dented frame; no other fairings but a mis-matched trail bike headlight.
It will still wheelie and hold a decent line around a corner, so I will enjoy it just as much as if it was pristine.
The bike is, we can presume, not at a dealers but in his possession as we speak. He can quite reasonable refuse to give it to an insurance-repair place until they provide him with a replacement bike. |

Yes to let you all know im still riding it because its my pride and joy, i could have absolutely no fairings on it i dont care it drives amazing i just love it, i already have a courtesy bike because my insurance said 'mine was un-safe to drive' its a chinese 4t 125 piece of crap so i refuse to ride that, get to 3000 revs (ticks over at 2,500) and knock it down a gear and the back wheel locks, its impossible thing to drive safely.
She has admitted liability and ive informed my insurers that im not using my courtesy bike but the recommended keeping it anyway because its being charged on her insurance and it will make the claim move along quicker which is ideal, thank you for all the positive replys and all of your information is being taken on board and is greatly appreicated |

Fair does mate....whilst i love riding just as much as you i`ll have to admit that looks matter to me aswell.
Cruising around on a shagged out bucket of bolts wouldn`t give me the same thrill as something clean tidy and shiny.I`d still enjoy it.....but nowhere near as much.
You`re hardcore.....i`m not. |

Gawd!! £1500 for that amount of damage!! Seriously unlucky mate, at least you weren't on the bike when she spannered into it......
I've just been knocked of my bike and was thinking that there's about a grand and a half's worth of repairs to be done. But seeing your pics and looking at the sorry state of my bike, I'm starting to think it's an economical write off......
Anyway I was just wondering what they do when it comes to cosmetic damage on functioning parts, cracked fairings like yours are pretty self explanitory but smaller scratches? So for example I've got a ruddy great big scratch on my powder coated wheels, another scrape on the bottom of my fork legs and a pair of big ol dents in the tank. All due to the accident, so will they try and repair that stuff or just replace it?? ____________________ current bike: GSX-R 750 K6 stolen, found the next day in a van in Durham, returned to me 3 months later costing me my NCB and my excess...
last bike: GSXx-R 600 K4 - written off, now converting to track bike |
