Bike is a GS500E 1995 by the way

I've finally decided to get my bike back into good condition. My fork seals are leaking and I from reading older topics, I know that I should change the bushes too.
But does the oil seal need to be changed as well as the washer etc, or is just the bushes and fork seals enough ignoring everything else like o-rings?

Also, what is the difference between Fork Dust Seals and just Fork Seals? Have I missed something obvious? Which ones do I need for my GS500?

You need both dust and oil seals and fork oil.

Not sure on the bushes, someone else can answer that.

From reading Itchy's and Sickpup's (I think) previous messages, they advised changing the bushes or else the seals are more prone to fail quicker?

I would do them while the forks are apart IMO.

May be a good idea to change to bushes, if they do become properly worn out they can cause problems when separating the stanctions from the fork bottoms.

Depends on the mileage of the bike, would be better to replace while the forks are apart.

Its personal choice, you don't have to do it, but how long since the seals were last changed? If the answer is don't know or within the last year then change the bushes.

To be honest I always advise that they are done with any seal change. They are not cheap but if there is the slightest bit of wear in them then they will accelerate the wear rate of the new seals.
I've yet to see a bike that I've done a seal change on that has had new bushes at any point in its life, people just ignore them and then complain that the new seals only last 6 months to a year.

Don't bother with the washer inside the fork leg but do replace the O rings and the washers on the bottom of the fork legs.
