Mate, Seriously i would not take my bike to a garage to fit an exhaust. Especially a scooter! For a ped Its just one short single pipe that is simply bolted onto the barrell usually by just two bolts! And also a securing bolt further to the tail.

Simply find a suitable spanner/ratchet and undo the bolts (my guess would be 10mm's) and undo the securing bolt until it comes loose and you can guide it out, simply reverse the procedure to re-fit (with a new gasket and some exhaust paste)!

Would you pay someone to do that?

I take it your not confusing it with the silencer, therefore it is most likely a power restriction! Is it the standard exhaust at the moment? To de-restrict you would have to start by removing this, but as you plan to fit an aftermarket exhaust, you need not!

May have only been partialy de-restricted, at the variator to be more precise.

I agree 100% with the above about how easy it is to fit the pipe youself the only thing i would say on top is that depending on the pipe you will probably need to re jet the carb and possibly do the rollers and springs i wouldnt suggest doing these yourself unless you have at least some very basic mechanical knowledge...
