For good Motorcycle roads, the further North and West you go, the better they are.

Be aware that pubs which serve food often stop serving very early (5.30 - 6pm) and will go out of their way to be unhelpful. Don't get stuck in the middle of nowhere with no food.

Which are you arriving at? Rosyth Europort?

Quite a long way South then.

If you are wanting to get up to Scotland as soon as possible, I'd recommend going on the A1(M) (this is NOT the M1, two different roads) and heading North.

It will take in the region of 6-8 hours to get to Edinburgh from Harwich. The A1(M) has the best balance between scenery and speed in my oppinion.

For in interesting diversion, leaving the A1(M) at Junction 58 takes you onto the A68, a nicer route through the Scottish Borders area, just watch out for speed cameras, which are the gatso type painted with flourescent stripes.

In terms of good roads, heading From Edinburgh to Creiff Gets you to the A85 and the start of the good roads. From there I usually work my way up to Fort William.

The A85 joins the A82 which takes you over Rannoch Moor and through Glencoe which is a fun road and very scenic.

From Fort William, heading North you are onto good biking roads although a less populated area. Less to do, more to ride on.

Isle of Skye might also be worth a visit.

You have 10 days though, you should be able to see most of Scotland in that time.

Google maps

That's stinkwheel's route in google maps.

Harwich - Edinburgh ( A1(M) - A68 - Forth Bridge - NW )

I recommend going over the Forth road bridge. It's pretty impressive in itself, but the rail bridge is really impressive that you see.
