Hi folks,
Anybody use a KTM 990 SM as their main/daily bike?

I'm seriously considering part-exing my Mille for one (or maybe a 950). Just wondering what they're like as an everyday bike and whatnot.

Most reviews seem to focus on the hooligan fun factor and don't tell you much about living with one of them!

I was initially tempted by a SuperDuke but the smaller tank range put me off a bit, and all-in-all the SuperMoto sounds more fun?

P.s. yes my 'everyday' bike is a Mille at present.

I've heard that a slightly older 950 is a better bike than a 990 due to the 990s fuel injection not being up to scratch or not as good as the carb version.

Seems a very reliable bike and quite comfortable, but lack of fairing and wind protection means its not quite as good as other bikes on motorways ect.

Akrapovics is a must Thumbs Up

BTW I've never ridden one but my dad is on his second 950 SM and has a 950 Enduro. This is one of his faveourite bikes and hes ridden alot of bikes.

I assume they're mental fun because I've got a 950 Adv and it's far more fun than it has any right to be, so a bike with the same engine, less of a fairing and less weight has to be good.

As well as my 950 Adv I've ridden the 990 (albeit briefly) and the FI seemed fine, but for all I know the earliest FI models were worse. God knows people like to make a fuss about it so there has to be some truth in there.

I'd say get yourself down to a dealer and take one out for a test ride.
