Carrying out my usual weekly checks on tyres, oil etc. I had the bike up on the centre stand in the garage. Having finished I rolled it off the stand and then realised that things did not feel right. For some reason it started to fall away from me, and too make it worse I was on the left with the side stand down. I quickly realised that I wasn't going to be able to hold it and had to let it drop Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

End result was very lucky for me. The mirror dragged down the garage wall until it snapped, and then the screen acted as a brake against the wall. Fortunately I had ordered a double bubble screen last night and so today's episode has only cost me one new mirror Very Happy I've checked everywhere and couldn't find a scratch anywhere besides the screen, so I am classing myself as one very luck teddy. Mind you I went on a planned ride tonight and realised just how much I use my mirrors and not having one on the RHS makes things somewhat interesting.

Anyhow I have tried to figure out what caused it and I can't, and I can only assume that I did wrong by being on the left hand side when I took it off the stand. Unless of course one of you guys could give some other explanation Embarassed

Stand on the left of the bike, cover the front brake and turn the bars ever so slightly to the right when you roll it forwards.

The bike will want to go right, making it fall to the left.

Easy peasy.

Since it's a main stand why not just sit on it and roll it forwards?

Confused

Will have to check if I can get a decent foothold if I sit on it whilst on the centre stand but I think my short legs won't be up to it though Embarassed

Just sit on the bike and push forward (even if your feet can't touch the floor) with your body weight and voila! Bike will move forwards as the momentum you are giving it so it should topple to the side unless you do something wrong.

Also, you can easily just have your feet flat footed ready to touch the floor on either side or both Thumbs Up
