10w-40 should be ideal. Go for a decent one though https://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-782-10w-40-engine-oils.aspx

wouldn't use 20w - 50, the thicker oil at start up when cold will flow slower and cause more wear. That's why the 20w means winter

sidewinder, I always use semi synth 10/40 in my divi.Have done for the last 4 years. Definately ok for these old tech engines.
Regarding the rattle .Is it the dreaded clutch rattle which lessens when the clutch is pulled in?
If it is, try the bodge of replacing the drive pin behind the clutch with a better fitting pin. well known bodge. Worked for me. Very Happy

Ps Happy new year to all Very Happy

Hi

Sorry, for some reason I didn't get the notification for your earlier post.

You need an oil that meets the VW507.00 spec.

https://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-754-vw-50700-oil.aspx

They are all good oils, so make your decision based on any brand/price preference you have.

Here is the filter.

Cheers

Tim

Do you pay for any advertising or is it all done by offering exactly the same "special offers" to a huge number of bike and car forums?
