Why not just look up where the speed cameras are in your area, don't get caught by a fixed camera, and be careful?

How'd you get 3 points anyway

That's a laser jammer Wink the link above is just a fixed scamera detector and a waste of money, you will need to update it every year (or sooner) for new scamera sites. Also it won't pick up mobile vans.

Best thing to use is your eyes and common sense and use the money for fuel. Wink

As of October 2007 a speed camera detector is illegal to own and use unless it forms part of a sat nav system.

If it is just a detector, and you are caught with it in or on your vehicle, bike can e siezed and sent to the crusher, fines can run into thousands as well as the points and discretionary disqualification.

Buy a sat nav with the detector built in and you will be OK!

Interesting - so that includes radar/lazer detectors included in GPS units?

Im thinking of getting a small laser detector to fit to the side of my speedo as there is a copper in the villages near me that likes to find a new place to hide with his speed camera every week.

Just a small one so i can see the lights next to the rev counter maybe with some sort of method to cover it. Wink

From what I've heard laser detectors are pretty pointless.
By the time it's detected the laser, and you have reacted and slammed the anchors on, the police laser gun will already have your speed.

Laser jammers are also pretty pointless as the police are pretty clued up with these. It will cause their gun to flash up with an error, which just means they pull you over and you get in big trouble if they find it.

...or so i've heard anyway!

Only if it is a massive straight where the laser camera can be pointed at you before its picked up.

If you can afford one and have a place to put it why not have one for the time it does pick it up before you do?

Assuming it was to hand ( i wish) would IR absorbent "stealth paint" work?, like on the old B2 bomber. Absorb the radar and lasers rather than reflect them so you have a stealth bike.

That would be cool and when you get stopped you just say its your rat hence the mat black....

I think some people on here think that as soon as you get one of these thing that you switch off your brain and go everywhere at full throttle.

Its just a warnings system for the times that you miss it Thumbs Up

As for the absorbing thing I can imagine that it would be very pricey and probally not worth it as they would inspect it and find it eventually.

Your bike would need to be very specific geometric shapes as well...

Which is why they don't just slap that stuff across the entire fleet.

Ah, BCF strikes again. A thread about scamera detection is now an argument about biology.

Mr. Green

As sold by >>>> DK Motorcycle Spares <<<<

Nuff said Mr. Green

Perhaps the money would be better spent at SPECSAVERS.
Not hard to spot a great big yellow box at the side of the road. As to the mobile vans etc. If the database is uptot date than on a lot of raods you will end up doing the limit anyway as they will be going off all the time.
So why waste you cash, just do the speed limit and stay safe Thumbs Up

I bought an LE-850 for the car about 5 years ago.

Cut out a small section of plastic grill and mounted it behind so its hard to see.

Was expensive but has saved me from scamera vans hiding behind bridges in bushes etc.

When it detects a laser it fires a burst back for 5 seconds then shuts down allowing the laser gun to get a lock (after you've hit the anchors).

Laser guns often take 2 cycles to get a proper lock due to scatter and other factors so as long as they get a lock on the second attempt you should be ok

Thinking of moving it to the bike now i hardly use the car
