A stupid question possibly, but why do certain offroad boots use different soles and what are the benefits of each?

Tech10's use what looks almost like a rubber trainer sole, whereas boots like tech the Tech 8's have a flatter sole with metal riveting at the front.

Neither seems to have a much heavier tread than the other, so i was wondering if there was a specific use for each or just personal preference?

As i said, stupid question, but it has been bugging me!

I believe they are often intended for different purposes; Enduro, Motocross, Supermoto, trials etc.
However I haven't worked out how it relates to what you'd want it to do in each situation.

for green laning you wana try and get a pair with a good grip on the soles
hekps when your trying to walk about on mud say if your picking your bike up after a tumble or just giving it a pull round if you get stuck in a lane.
