Hi All

after reading the other thread on back protectors that was started really recently - it made me think about using insert back protectors vs a full length one.

Ive got a dainese g2 wave insert thing in the back of my jacket, and it certainly feels pretty sturdy ut doesnt cover the top and bottom of my back.

now any genius can work out having a full lenth protector is going to offer more protection in a crash than an insert - so

a) why would you buy an insert over a full back protector (i asked myself this and came up with cos my jacket has a pocket for it)

b) obviously anything is better than nothing, but would an insert actually provide enough protection to be usefu considering it doesnt cover all your back?

c) would anyone choose an insert over a full protector?

just a few thoughts....

gaz.

A) Convenience. If it's an insert you just take off the jacket, you don't have to fart about with a separate protector.

B) As you say something is better than nothing. It's not as useful as a full protector, but it's better than nothing.

C) If it was a flat toss up between the 2 I'd take the full length one everytime.

Full length everytime.
The inserts are only gonna be useful if you take a direct hit to the small area they cover.

The couple of times I wore my protector on the road, it annoyed me immensely and meant I couldn't do proper shoulder checks.

Jacket stuff's fine for me, I just use the protector on track.
