 |

Me and Mike with the green ZXR400 from this forum went for a blast up the A20 to ashford and back today. Was a good ride until the Kawasaki started steaming and running like, Well, A Kawasaki.
Long live the Honda. Was pinging her off the red line all the way, She loves it!
Only took a couple of photos, One just before we set off. And one at the garage at the turn around point.
Had a chat with a guy who races NC29s in the formula400 league. Gave me some advice on setting up the suspension.
I'm running a cbr6 rear shock on the longest setting and tightest tension.
Ive raised my yokes back up to around 5mm (as apposed to the previous 15mm!!!!!).
Played around with the adjusters on the front forks until the bike is pretty much perfectly balanced front and rear.
Bike rides with much more ground clearance now. Seat is actually higher than the ZXR4 too.
Turns in a little bit slower than before, But is alot less twitchy now.
I think ive got a bit of tweaking to do with the front forks because it dives quite a bit when I brake hard. Thinking about just going all out and buying RVF USD forks. Hmm, £300. Even if they dont function any better, I think it would be £300 well spent on pure tart factor.

i serviced it the week before and decided to put a bit of redex in the fuel, maybe a bit to much! it was stil on the same tank of fuel so maybe it was that running through, when i got in i left it for a bit and started it again and it gave a puff of black smoke and then it was fine moral of this story, only use stated doses of redex in your fuel, gonna clean it up this weekend anyway an bung it on ebay, had it far to long and a 600 is calling ____________________ random twat!

Moonie, Id like to think I wont be binning it any more.
metalforever, RVF forks are pretty much the right length. They are a wee bit shorter than the NC29 forks, But they have less moving travel, So it equils out.
ZXR forks are VERY long, and will need to be standing quite proud of the yokes, Which will not only look shit, it will also foul on the screen brace.
Also, its an arse ache getting cups machined up to house the ZXR head bearings, and Spindle conversion for the wheel, brake setup.
RVF forks/yokes will fit straight in. All you have to do is loose one of the locking nuts from the head stock, still got 2 on there anyway.
And run RVF calipers.
The NC29 wheel and disks will fit. |
