When are they out?

They'll still be brand new in Nov, so price won't have gone down much, unless you go for a dropped one!

Get something else nice and cheap, then spend the money on proper training and more bike for your money!

OK on a more serious note if you mean the new YZF-R125 then it will depend on demand and availability. If it sells like hot cakes and they can't make them fast enough then 2nd hand ones could cost more than new ones ala Triumph Street Triple.

£2500 in November i bet, so not alot off the retail Wink.

I'm hopefully going to buy one in July, wont be going for anything above a 125 for a few years so looks like the best bet.

A) may look pretty to the eye, but the spec sheet looks rather poor.
B) I said I'd stick with a 125 for a couple of years - I regretted that choice.
C) With that money you could pass your full test, buy and insure a reasonable bigger bike.

So...

D) You must think that it looks damn pretty and those looks are worth possibly thousands of pounds for you to have! Smile

Parents are against bikes, took a mission to get them to agree to let me have a 125. I intend to take my test then move on a few years down the line.

bearing in mind that the test changes in october to become much harder meaning 125s may increase in demand, so price may rise as people could be put off from moving up to bigger bikes

YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

Why does that mean you should buy a very expensive 125?
Even more reason to get one that can offer decent performance - you could always do your test, then get an NSR125, which offers acceptable performance.

As do lots of people, expensive 125 with the idea that they'll be keeping it for a few years. Only it never quite happens, the benefit of taking the test is you can ride bigger bikes, majority of people then end up getting a bigger bike and selling the 125 for lots less than was paid for it.

First bike, you don't want a shiny expensive 125. Instead, something cheapish that won't depreciate too much.

I bought my 125 new after I traded in my moped for £1000 and used my £500 insurance compensation so i only payed £500 for it.

I sat on the new Yamaha R125 (as i call it Laughing ) while my ybr was in service and its a nice little bike not as comfoy as my YBR thoe for long trips. Then the salesman advised me to sit on a R6 and ohboy i loved it. I see what people mean by being more sturdy and not feeling so vunrable. I say get a used 125 and save for a 600.

Im planning to get my test done this summer just needing the money to do it as when I have the money it needs to be spent somewhere else. Typical isnt it Rolling Eyes

Thirded (if thats a word)

about to do my DAS having ridden a 500 a couple of times and am going to lose about a grand on the CBR125 I bought 6months ago.

If something's worth doing, it's worth doing right!......

just FYI, I bought my cbr125 in October '07 for £1000

and sold it last month for £1200 Razz

it's not impossible to make a profit on a 125, the way I see it you should shop around till you find one that is a really good deal, if it's a CG125, great Razz if it's a CBR125, great Razz

whatever it is, as long as it's a good deal, it's worth having, (you'll only keep it a few months till you pass your test anyway)..

just bear in mind that a chinese 125 is never a good deal, unless they're paying you to take it Wink

I just a saw one of these in the flesh last night.
Have to say they are a really good looking bike, especially for a 125.

You wouldent know it was a 125 at first glance, its quite abit bigger than a CBR 125.
What gave it away was the wheels/tyres, wider than the CBR`s but still quite thin.

Lovely bike, can see them being popular with learners.
