I doubt sarcasm encourages new members to stay.

It is only little things like being able to take you bike off and on the stands, move the bike through a 180 by pushing it from one space to another but not having both hands on the bars, one on the bars the other on the frame or such place to manoeuvre the bike around. But we are all Gods on bikes once we have passed so it will be very easy for Gods to be. Wink

Shame. BCF needs more sensitive wallflowers writing poetry and feeling everyone's pain.

You sure about that? From what I recall there's a whole new off-road section that you have to complete at 30kph and 50kph before even starting the on-road part of the test.

My instructor told me that there was only one examiner that had manage to pass the test in East Anglia so far. He had 5 counties to cover Shocked Confused

Yeah but all that has been added is go round some cones and do a slalom. The emergency stop is already in the test, it has now been moved off road though.

People are definitely over exaggerating how hard the new test is going to be.

Its not the offroad/on road part that people should be worrying about. Its the lack of centres that will be available when the new test is introduced I can imagine.

Yep from 225 down to 65 ish.

But a good few will find the off road bit of a pain. Mainly the emergency stop and only 2 attempts to get the speed fast enough.

When i done my A2 in march the instructor said they've got to do a bit where you have cones in the shape of a hairpin corner. Have to reach 50kph as you come out the other side (as if you have got round), apparently it shows your control if you enter a corner too fast and also accelerating around a corner as you start from standstill.

Problem being that a 125 like YBR's and CG's will only just be able to accelerate up to that speed just before you have to hit the speed. So people won't pass because the actual bike can't do what is being asked.

It's not how hard it's going to be but the fact that'll it'll take longer, cost more and just be more of a pain in the arse than it already is.

For anyone who really has had their head in the sand...

Thing is, even if the new test is the same difficulty as it is now, the fear that it will be harder prompted me to get off my arse and learn to ride. So maybe it will encourage a bunch more people... which is surely a good thing.

Still - I'm hoping I pass before October! Smile

What about those who can't, or are to young at the moment?

Yeah, that does suck. A lot of the changes seem to be being made to force younger riders to wait.

Hmmm, so you'd probably not think it's a good idea for me to suggest the new bike test might have a caps-lock/shift key test? Razz

I've just trained and passed test - been talking about it for a while but the new test format certainly made me work hard to pass. I'd have had to get down to Exeter from Bournemouth this autumn otherwise. Defintely, worth getting on with it asap if you ask me....did you? Wink

Fothose of us who did our tests 25 years ago it is almost the same as in an off road bit ( used to be called part 1) then do the part two road bit ( but that wasn't followed like it is now)
It should make riders safer to some extent, but I think they should do some more high speed routes and corners as it would be more real world. If you are good enough then the test shouldn't be a problem. You only need to worry if you are not good enough.

One of the best examiners in the country came off attempting the 50kph hairpin/corner and broke his leg.

Doesn't bode well for the rest of us!

i am sorry to say it but that made me laugh. hope he is feeling better. so if it seems that very experienced riders are struggling, then perhaps the test won't be changed. if people start breaking legs then i am certain the dvla or whoever will re examine it again. since the test is designed to make people better riders and especially safer. i don't think they plan on getting people injured before they even have a license.

Or maybe they'll keep it in. It's not as hard as some of the other tests around the world. Obviously some examiners are incompetent.

If a person falls of and gets injured they are not ready for the road. Afterall, that's why examiners insist you wear protective clothing.
