I have been to the dealer today to 'enquire' (currently undecided between blade and 2008 R1)...
I don't know if I am in a minority or majority in loving the look of it... or do race reps do your head in on the road?

Its £800 more for the repsol over the plain black and red one, but you get the SHOWA suspension upgrade with the repsol over standard...

Love the repsol blade but its one of those things, i personally wouldnt pay more for a none standard scheme as if/when you come to sell it on, bikes with a certain acquired taste would be harder to shift?

cheers for the replies....
Like I said... the extra for the Repsol gets you the upgraded suspension too...
The Hannspree one... is it available on the 07 model? Didn't know it was an official scheme.

I think all race reps are cool and the repsol colours are proper sexy so if you like it sod what anyone else thinks....and get it.
The 08 R1 looks mint too but only in blue trim.

Do it mate, you know you want to! You've been talking about getting it for ages!

Are you sure the dealer isn't just BSing you mate? Showa is standard fit on my VFR, so I don't think it's going to be anything that special. Did you go MMC?

I expect someone to pay me to advertise their petrol station on my bike - I definitely wouldn't be paying to have a petrol station's name stuck all over my bike!

For that £800 you could get an ohlins rear, maybe some front internals and all set up to you. Or do 4 trackdays, etc, etc Smile.

hi mate
definitely upgraded over the other schemes as they were side by side... totally different forks and rear shock.
whether they are worth it I aint too sure. But the repsol paint done by dram machine for example would be at least £800 anyway, so it kinda makes sense. Not too keen on the stock colours though the HRC colours are nice but is the same price as the Repsol anyway.

Out of curiosity, why not plump for an 08 blade if your thinking of tarty bits?

You do realise that is a stock Honda, not limited special? The suspension's stock, as is the paintscheme - seen so many about, including Siggi's CBR1000RR.

https://www.honda.co.uk/motorcycles/2007/CBR1000RRFireblade.html

No way is it worth £800 over a different coloured machine, even if the only modification to it is the Yoshi exhaust.

yeah, fully aware that its stock. Since found out the cheaper ones at the dealer are 06 versions. The HRC and repsol ones are 07's.
Wouldn't have an 08 blade till they sort out the front.

800 quid to be a bit different to everyone else, sounds like money well spent to me, or just buy a standard one and pay dream machine to do something really unique Smile my 2p

To be honest Most Motorcycle Companies must be so desperate for sales now what with the economy, they'd prolly knock £800 off!

They did Repsol colours from 05, I was offered one when I bought my black one. I'm not sure if there was an upgrade to the suspension with it after 05 but it was definitely only a colour scheme for £800 extra when I was buying. Showa are generally stock on 1000RRs.

If you're looking to spend new liter bike money on a bike it's a real shame you don't like the 08 Blade, it's a much better bike than both the 08 R1 and 06/07 1000RR's. If you can I would go and test ride one and give it a good look over outside in the flesh. The engine, brakes, weight and handling are the best around at the moment and the build quality/finish is spot on.

It's worth a ride. I wasn't over impressed with the pics and a quick scout around when it first came out but it's a great riders bike.
