I'm not sure (not being a mechanically minded person) but I think I have a problem with my scooter. The coolant appears to be leeking down the front (of where I sit). I have had the coolant bottle replaced on warranty but the problem persists (spelling). Anyone got any ideas on what it could be?

Very much appreciated

Will

I have a Suzuki Katana. It doesn't smell like petrol and it's not thick like oil it's runny like water I suppose. Can't tell if it's clear cos it's against a black backboard but will check.

unfortunately with water leaks you have to just trace the leak ... theres no short cuts.... just check any pipe connections, tighten any connectors etc ... thats about all u can do ... if its still under warranty take it back!!

sorry cant be much more help!

scooters are a pain in the arse to be honest mate, completely different in make up to standard bikes, if i ever had a problem with mine i just took it to a garage, is it a major problem?

if the bike overheats then you know its bad, if it still runs dont worry too much about it, but book it in to get looked at

just make very clear to the mechanics what is wrong, and what you want done about it, and remind them they gave you a warranty, often with scoots, its not their big money service, so they do it as quick as possibly, and dont seem to care to much, so make sure you lay it on the lines as to what you want done

Cheers for the advice. No it isn't a major problem. But every time I fill up on water/coolant it just drops down to the orginal level within a matter of days!

Hi

Just to be certain, your arent overfilling it are you?

If you are not overfilling it then check where all the pipes go. Check the clips are all tight, and you might find one with a bit of white "fur" around it which would suggest it is leaking

All the best

Keith

does it leak out untill the bottle is empty or will it stop at a certin level?

if it keeps droping untill empty u'v got a leak,
if it stops you are probably over filling it,
most coolant bottles only need filling around half full as the coolent can flow back and forth from the bottle to the engine as is warms up and cools down, on some bike the coolent bottle is more like an overflow that stores the excess water when the engine heats up and not for topping up, make sure you aint topping the bottle up when u should be putting it in the raidiator cap,

so after confusing u I hope this helps
