Here is the situation:

If I pass my test next month, I am planning to go to France as soon as I get my bike. I know you have to have been driving for a certain amount of time to drive in Europe - however I passed my car test more than two years ago, so does it apply from the date you got your first license (as I'm fairly sure I'm eligible to drive a car in France) or from the date you got the license you're using?

Cheers!

I'm fairly sure there's no such requirement. You have to be 18 to drive in Europe, not 17, but that's all. I drove in Italy, France and Switzerland when I was 18 and had only had my car licence for about 16 months.

Wife drove in Ireland 4 weeks after passing test.

Saying that she wasn't happy about it, the roads are crap.

And i'd been out to the pub till 3am and was too hungover/still drunk to drive the following morning.

You might want to check that your insurance will cover you.
