I am respraying my bike in a week or two in ducati red sort of colour and was wondering what the general opinion on having yellow rizla stickers on it?

Personally I think it will look quite good but I just want to throw the idea out there and see what abuse I get back Wink

Cheers,

M

If you post a side-on pic of the bike, some people will be able to photoshop colours on it for you, can give you an idea of what it'll look like and you can consider different colours.

Just an idea..

+1 on the Duke red though! Thumbs Up

Depends how much Rizla will pay you to put them on, to work out if it's worth it or not Smile.

I think no one would care what it looked like if we were being paid to ride it Smile

Is this going to be a aerosol jobbie,
if so i wouldnt bother, unless your going to smother 3/4 of it with stickers, otherwise youll just make a reasonable looking fairing a badly sprayed one?

I will do it properly - sand down, prime, spray, gloss stuff that i cant spell or maybe leave it if it looks good already.

And it needs repainting as the right side has scratches on it from where the guy before the guy I bought it off fell off doing 15mph. Also the tank paint is crap and is peeling, showing the grey plastic underneath.

Ye even if you do it properly, using aerosol cans your not going to easily match the finish on the panels if they havnt been resprayed before.

Maybe you should do a test peice and compare it to the finish on your panels atm, as unless you have a big talent for using aerosol paint, you dont get a very good finish, and just about anyone can tell its been done on the cheap.

If theres already defects go ahead with it,
but i wouldnt be expecting as good a finish on the paint as is on there, unless your going to spend alot of time and money reworking each time it dosnt work out like it should.

I am not just respraying the damaged panels - its the whole bike that I am doing. The back section has been resprayed anyway and unless you know what your looking at (which some guy did who told me) I couldn't tell.

Add some Soapbar and White-Lightning labels to the red skins and you have the ultimate chav paint job.

Taking time dosnt giuarentee a good finish, lol just usually alot more money than you intended on spending in the first place Laughing
and the 1098 proper bike that would be more deserving of being properly stickered up.
Be sure to post your progress pictures on here so i can chuckle at how it cocks up for you Laughing only joking.

The shiny gloss you speak of is called laquer or also known as topcoat.

All the chav girls, maybe Wink.

And it is perfectly possible to get a looking-good-as-original paint job with spray cans if you get the right paint and put the time in, even with sparkly metalic paint.

Go to your local bodyshop and ask them what they'd use aerosol cans for.
Ask them exactly why they dont use them...

Once youve got those 2 answered you'll know why theres no point using aerosol paint and laquers, especially the laquers actually!

Well thanks for the support Confused

It was just a bike to show the colour sorry if it is 'too good to put stickers on in photoshop' Rolling Eyes

I will be making a thread with the pictures from it when I do it in a week or so.

Seriously mate, I asked how the stickers would look.

If you want to bang on about this and that about aerosols go for it. Just not to me.

If I could afford the proper thing then I would. But I can't so I am doing it this way. Maybe some tips would be helpful instead?

Its not liking I am spending the cost of the bike again on these stickers. They are just to make it look good so I can feel proud of my bike instead of trying to cover all the scratches when someone comes to look at it.
