I have been told by a worker at the kingsbury oil depot that they are planning a strike in the next couple of days, so it may be worth filling a gerry can just in case.

Just thought id give people a heads up!!!!

It is only BP and ESSO (which are owned by BP) that the lorry drivers are going on strike. Any other garage not supplied by them should be fine. Thumbs Up

wtf?? Esso is not owned by BP.
And in this news article it looks very much like your BP truck has "S H E L L" written down the side. Although I guess Shell could be a trade name of BP, eh.

The media really drive me up the wall! And the general public are worse because they are both Stupid and morons for allowing themselves to be controlled.

The whole Northern Rock problem was built and fuelled by the media.

This is a silly protest involving just Shell garages. Now it could just be where I live but I've not used a shell garage for months! Why the hell are people going out and panic buying from the likes of Tesco and BP when their supplies will remain normal?

I walk past a Tesco petrol station during my lunch. Today it was qued up the road!! It's always a fairly busy place but this is the first time I've seen it quite so bad.

So to sum up I say "Don't be a sheep!"

haha, as soon as the media or authorities say 'dont panic buy' it immediately makes people think 'hhmm, but if everyone else is panic buying there wont be any left for me - better go and top up just in case'

Hmm - when we had a scare a couple of months ago people said to avoid panic buying. Fuel went up 2p after the weekend, when supplies were meant to be back to normal.

If you panic buy and the country grinds to a halt, isn't that pretty much what we want these protests to achieve?

See this just sums up why the media are such a pain. And the public fall for it. This strike has nothing to do with the cost of fuel!! It's just a strike like any other (nurses/police officers/teachers). It is all about pay and nothing to do with the cost of petrol!

DON'T BE A SHEEP! pay attention to the world around you and make an informed decision once in a while dammit!

I love my CG for this very reason, filled it up 3/4 times since I bought it in Feb.

‘As soon as I heard that the main storage tank was down to only 900 litres I knew I had to act,’ said garage regular Dave Spooool. ‘Although I had already filled my car, and actually I only drive about 70 miles a week, I rushed back to the forecourt and filled the boot, glovebox and door pockets with extra fuel. Mind you, I’m so stupid I once forgot how to use my arms’.

Local cretin Angela Stave was another of those caught in the precautionary buying palaver. ‘When I drove onto the forecourt someone told me what was going on and to be honest it scared me. What if there was a medical emergency and I couldn’t get my kiddies to hospital during that vital 20 minute window when my car only had 7/8ths of a tank full? It doesn’t bear thinking about. That’s why I filled my tank with both petrol and diesel, just to be on the safe side’.

Exachell staff say even those who weren’t intending to buy petrol were drawn into the mass panic, such as area dimwit Irene Mizzz. ‘I had spent the morning frigging myself over the memory of Princess Diana and was on my way to buy a second, uncreased copy of the Daily Mail when I noticed a commotion at the petrol station. I immediately realised it was the kind of grunting, thoughtless mass hysteria I enjoy and decided to buy as much petrol as possible. Obviously I don’t actually own a car so I had to go and buy one of those first and by the time I got back the unthinking mob behaviour was over. I was so disappointed I decided to fire bomb the place so I could spend the afternoon moaning about Muslims’.

An Exachell sposkesmans was quick to reassure everyone that the tanker delay was a one off and that people should stop being so Christingly bloody thick.

While he may be wrong, I'd say he's still right; as in people going on strike would sure like to grind the whole country to a halt, in the hope the country would give them more money so it doesn't happen again Smile.
