Hi guys.

Am new to this forum, and in need of some guidance. I recently bought a 1991 Kawasaki AR125 and have had a few problems with it in terms of restoring it, but this one is quite weird.

When the engine is started, it sits idle at around 1000rpm. When I open the throttle, it revs up and very slowly moves back down eventually settling at 3000rpm instead of 1000rpm. It sometimes will go back down to 1000, but usually stays at 3000 until you let the clutch out in gear.

Any ideas about the slow rpm come-down or 3000rpm idle?

hi, to me that sounds like an air leak-but also on my vfr if i whack the choke on fully, and i let the revs go up, my idle because of the rich running is higher.

thanks
freya

Thanks Freya. I think you might be on to something with the choke. I keep the choke in, but there is a screw on the side of the carb which I'm assuming is the mixture control for the two stroke / petrol mix (thought that's pretty much just a guess) which could be causing the same problem as the choke would.

Would you have any hints on how to tell whether you've got that screw at the right level?
