im confused

hi passed my bike test on the 4th of july but before that i got 3 points on the 28th of octocber 2007 how long have i got those points for ???

and also how long is it until i can use all my 12points because its 6points then ur banned or sumet how long that last ?

Depends what the points were for. For minor stuff like speeding, they are active for three years and stay on your licence for four.

If you didn't hold a full licence before your test (eg already have a car licence), you are now on a 2 year probationary period. If you get 6 or more points during that period, your licence is automatically revoked (it's not a ban, they just take it off you, you have to re-apply for your provisional then do the tests again).

So, you get flashed by a camera or park on zig-zags, you loose your licence.

Is it not if you get 6 in total Stinkwheel. So he can only get 3 more points now and his licence will be revoked.

I'm sure it is as people talked about having 9 points and if they could do their test. They could do their test but if they got 1 more point on their licence it would be revoked.

totting up is a minimum of a 6month ban IIRC

6 point rule REVOKES your license , it doesn't and never has banned you

3 yrs for totting up purposes, 4 yrs on your license for court use (used against your character), hence they are not active.

so in 3 years can i get them 3 points taken off i only got them cause didnt have fucking L plates on i well regret it now
but it d.m cause i passed my test about 6months after i got the points

the way I understand it, the 6 point revocation rule is in place for 2 years AFTER you pass your test, so the 3 points you got before passing your test would not count towards this.. however, it depends on how it is worded, and I haven't read that for a while so I'm not sure..

but if you want solid info about legal stuff, this is not the place to ask.. phone the dvla, they should be able to tell you..

not quite so important for this specific query, (points are points after all), but in general with legal stuff, would you rather tell a judge you asked people on BCF? or that you phoned someplace official? (in this case the dvla)
