hi, i am insured with bennetts but my policy is about to run out. They have sent me a renewal notice, but there is no mention of how to stop the policy from renewing, as i am selling the bike so no longer need cover. The only thing they mention is a £30 cancellation fee, do i have to pay this to stop getting cover?

I rang them up to tell them. It would seem like a sneaky thing for bennets to do. So I thought they would because they are crap.

Quick phone call and my mind was put to rest.

Call them and tell them you don't require the policy next year.

Note the date/time/name of the person you spoke to and their extention number on the renewal notice before fiing it in your vehicle folder.

There will be no charge for you not taking out a policy for the next year. Any trouble and demand a copy of the call under the Data Protection Act.

Automatic renewal gets on my tits.

Just ring them and tell them you don't want it renewing. I didn't bother looking at the letter for long enough to know I needed to and ended up in a long ridiculous dispute over it after they renewed it at twice the previous years cost.

I was in the exact same situation. Gave them a quick ring and explained that i'd be selling the bike, so they couldn't legally insure me on it Wink

The nice lady on the phone said she'd cancel it for me, although i'd still receive a couple of letters about automatic renewal, because they are computer generated.

1st year i payed £430 TPO, renewal price was £620! Cheeky fuckers. And this is now i've got 1yrs NCB with them, have a full licence instead of CBT, and have experience riding a 600cc.

They are useless.
