Right i got £2k, an I'll be on a restricted licence for two years, but i want a SM for the road, an i have no idea, if i can buy an MX bike an kit it out with road stuff, or if i buy a stock road Supermoto.

I did a search but didn't find anything really.

So basically i jus wanna no what Supermoto bikes i could buy, like 350cc or 400cc an which models because it's well confusing me like mad lmao.

Im guessing you want a 4-stroke..there are many choices.... DRZ400, yzf450, crf450, Aprilia SXV450, yamah wr450. some are more expensive than others.

The drz400sm or S version with a set of sm wheels can be picked up for 2k restricted (as i did).

Theres also the ccm404 which you can sometimes pick up for about 2k. But dont expect a high top speed. The drz will be pushing if i do 80/85mph. On fast dual-cariage ways (of course i've never go over the speed limit) you will find that it does lack some power. But then you are restricted so 33bhp, so not much you really do about that!

The suzuki 400cc engine is a very good engine and is meant to be very reliable. i've not had any problems. Thumbs Up

Ahh cheers lads, so i can pick up something like this,
https://img216.imageshack.us/img216/8318/10202721lv4.jpg

Standard off the shelf so to speak?

So most bikes come with dirt tyres/wheels but to turn them to an SM we put road wheels on?

i'll check ebay out now, to find out prices.

I want a low maintenance bike, an i'm not mega fussed about proformance aslong as i can keep up with other bikers i'm not bothered.

It's the fun factor i'm after. As even if i get a superbike 600cc it ain't gunna be fast anyway due to 33bhp restriction.

Yeah, but you may struggle to find one that is in top condtion. i got mine because i like trail riding and s&m ' ing Laughing

So mine has the stractched panels, but with a very low milage of now 6k. i have both sets of wheels and mines an 02. you might struggle to get one like mine... I looked for well over 3months. Rolling Eyes and only spent just under 2k inc restriction.

AND dont forget insurance which will likely set u back 400+ (dependant on age, etc.).

Supermoto bikes are not low maintenance. Laughing Full service approx every 10-15 hours of useage, they're anything but low maintenance.

Not too sure about 33bhp supermoto, but it kind of defeats the point of getting a powerful tuned bike if you then go stick 33bhp restrictors in it. Confused

Supermotos are not low maintenance, they're not for commuting, they're not for doing distance... basically they're toys. From what you're said, it really doesn't sound like a supermoto would be a good purchase for you.

There are loads and loads of 'what supermoto' threads here so have a look through those and see what's said. Thumbs Up
