Nice Bike. Colours do seem slightly feminine.

Alot of people on this forum have come up through the biking ranks from 125's to 400 then beyond. I took the same route and must admit i could never part with my nc35 Smile something about the skill required to keep the bike moving along at pace and the addictive sound of the exhausts.. Twisted Evil

it is a standard paintjob. mine used to look like it Cool

There just seems nothing spectacular about them.

They are overpriced, heavy and a lot have high mileage and you can generally get a 600cc for less money and then get cheaper insurance on it. With a CBR250RR you have the 20,000 rpm redline and 45hp from a 4 stroke 250. What an amazing bike that is Drooling

Why don't you STFU unless you've ridden a 250 inline 4?

Idiot.

All my point was is that 250 IL4s have something about them that is different to other bikes. The 400s are just like any other sport bike but have a smaller engine.

So tell me how a CBR250 isn't just like a CBR400 but with a smaller engine?

Well what I said in the other post.

It has a 20,000rpm redline and it was putting out 45hp which was the same as 250 2Ts of the same era. That's some amazing engineering and that's why it is so different.

I don't see anything interesting in a 60hp 400.

It's actually got an 18k redline.

The 400's got a 14.5k redline and made 57bhp, the similar vintage 600 has got a 12k redline and made 85bhp.

Notice a pattern emerging?

I'm not gay Laughing

I just think that everyone seems them as a perfect bike for when you pass your test but I'm just not seeing it.

I don;t hate 400s, just don't really see the point in them. I guess then I'm also in the firing line for people saying there's no point of a CBR250RR either. They are just more appealing to me because of the high RPMs. I like an engine that screams Razz

Maybe one day I'll ride them and change my mind.

I'd love a sports 400, but as stated, they are just too overpriced, not just the initial cost, but also the insurance and the fact that most are old and the parts will only get harder to come by.

I've thought about getting one, but at the end of the day I can get a reasonable hornet 600 or thundercat or thuderrace for the same kinda money.

Sorry chaps

you can get a decent 400 for around £1200-£1400 besides you can`t compare a sports 400 to a hornet or thunderace as they are totally different bikes, besides the thunderace doesn`t have much character and they look a bit odd too !!

How is a Thundercat/Thunderace totally different to a sports 400? Confused

i don't get the 400 sports thing, but each to their own.

at 1st i thought it was to get round the restriction but most/all seem to be above the 33bhp limit.

i'd love a 250 though, as a toy
