Well my notice was handed in at the start of this month. Im leaving and travelling around Europe with my lady for as long as our money lasts.
I've never done this before, but have the tickets booked for the first destination with accomodation.
I'll be using rail and using couch surfing for a large majority of staying places. My missus knows some people in the destinations we're going so that's gonna help.
Really i'm asking about what to take, ive got two decent size rucksacks for each of us, there is the obvious items but i don't want to have to keep purchasing things out there.
Im sure some of you have done a similar thing before, so any tips would be much appriciated. ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

This book , I took one to Europe on my last tour, although it wasn't 100% useful to me I can see it would be useful for backpackers.
Gives you advice on what to see , where to eat , where to stay how to get there and also net access and where to drink and go clubbing.
Also you might want to bring a few small trinkets you can get in the UK , to thank strangers for their kindness, my visit to China similar to yours a life time ago (between Hangzhou and Shanghai) I bought a few minature bottles of drambuie (when I used to drink that stuff) , and give it as gifts to people who would be quite kind and generous like invite you into parties etc. The gift might not exactly be worth loads but its the thought that counts.
I believe Nath did something similar, in Eastern Europe.
