Where do you get yours?

Is there a general roundabout price for them or is it a case of different places make you pull different faces?

And lastly, is it much of a problem getting places to fit them?

I take it you mean tyres that have been round a track a few laps and then sold

Normally about £100 a pair in that case.

recommended Thumbs Up

Yeah them's the one's, sure I've seen people talk of cheaper prices than £100 a pair though.

From myself ( Razz ) and other racers I know. Stick a post up on motorforum.net, should be loads around at this kinda time of year or get yourself to a club racing meet.

Seen people sell them from about £30 for a decent pair. Wouldn't pay over £80 really.

Any semi-decent place should be fine to fit them. I don't like paying much more than a fiver to fit to loose wheels.

i nip over to cadwell and pick up decent rears 190's for £15 and fronts for £10! The same tyres usually flog on ebay for £50+

Or go to my mates and get theirs when theyre replacing as they have to buy matching pairs and wont use scrubs on there road bikes. Very Happy

Someone warned me yesterday not to use race scrubs on the road, is it just paranoia or is there a good solid reason against it?

I've used race scrubs on the road for the past 3/4 years (~15k miles) without any problems. Currently using Racetecs which are excellent in the dry and not bad in the wet.

Not being able to get them up to temperature/keeping them there would be my biggest concern.

Even sports touring tyres can offer as much grip as sports rep tyres on the road if the conditions aren't ideal.

All depends on the type of tyres, 'race scrubs' is an all-encompassing term for 'tyres wot have been used on track' really - some are perfectly decent for road use, others can be a bit iffy in the cold/wet. Make sure you know what you're buying and be aware of the different compounds and what their characteristics are.
