ok, i recently noticed that my rear brake pads were worn almost completely down, so i bought a set of rear pads off ebay and went to fit them this morning,

unfortionatly,
it seems the bolt holding the pads in place is jammed, it doesnt seem to turn, and its an odd looking bolt that seems to go all the way through the caliper.

now, before i round the head off this straight-headed screwdriver bolt, am i doing something stupidly wrong?

because it seems like a threaded bolt but i could be wrong, i was wondering if anyone else had any problems with this,

and if there is a good way of getting a screwdriver head bolt off without rounding it (it seems to be frayed from previous attempts) id aprieciate the help, cheers guys,

thanks for your help in advance...again,
G.

Not sure which NSR you have but on my old one, it wasn't a screw that held the pads in, was just a pin that pushes through the hole in the top of the pads, usually held in the back with a split pin or 'R' pin etc.. the flat blade bit was just there to turn the pin around to gain access to the split pin.

they do go absolutely solid if left for a while, they rust in place.

If this is the case when you have got it out use some copper slip when putting back together to make sure it's nice and easy in future.

is this it?

Cheers mate, thats the one, i got an 02 foxeye, and thats the exact set up, i was bloody looking for a diagram for ages, but yea, it was solid, and im not sure about the pin but there was a threaded part to it, althou there was some metal jammed in at the bottom where the thread met the bolt ?? it doesnt suprise me, its an italian import, and the electrics have been all wired together LOL,

im not even joking, the nsr is a great bike, but to many boy racers try and 'improve' them,

anyway, got the blasted thing out, had to drill it in the end, i got a big screwdriver and did nothing but round it, still, got a nice stainless steel nut and bolt in there now, and more copperslip than i can slip over.

dunno if u had the grim'bo's like me, but there no bremy's but they do still function, if not for the mass amount of paint and oxide from whatever is living in it, im going to have to really clean that thing.

anyway cheers man, got there in the end, with a few metal splintters too!

cheers for your help let me know if you have any trouble,
G
