Quite interesting presentation of typical methods police may use to get an admission of guilt.

Very Happy

Definitely an interesting video but how relevant would this be in the U.K? I assume interrogation laws etc. may be slightly different here?

It is slightly different over here. In the US, the Miranda warning is a statement made on arrest that states that the suspect has a right to remain silent, that anything said can be used as evidence, and they have the right to legal support. In the UK, the police use a slightly different method. They say "you have the right to remain silent, but it may harm your defence if you do not mention something which you later rely on in court. Anything you do say may be given in evidence."

So you can keep silent, but if you later say in court "I wasn't there," it can be used to incriminate you. It's also interesting to know that if your rights have not been read to you, anything you do say can not be given as admissible evidence, as you must be given the choice to waiver those rights.

If you haven't already, watch the first part to the video.

Even although the video clips are long they are very interesting.

I would expect though anyone good at 'interview# techniques would get the confession even if you know to keep your mouth shut.

The caution in scotland is even more brief than the one in England.
