I was working round North Yorkshire. They were lucky IMO.

It wasn't very severe up there considering the effect on South Yorkshire. things would've been so much worse if York and surrounding areas got most of the rain rather than Sheffield and surrounding areas.

I was handing in my notice or rather I was walking out of my old job with a record time of 0 days notice.

And prepping the CBR for a trip to France.

I was riding my NSR through a few ft of water, it was over my knees. Made a 4x4 driver hang his head in shame as I ploughed in while he sat looking like a coward.

I live in a town that has never flooded, so getting this much water was insane, my mates house flooded so him and his cat came over to stay, which was fun. When the fire brigade pumped the water out of his house they pumped it into an underpass which was full of graffiti and was used for drugs etc, which was weakened so finally got filled in, and a level crossing got put in instead, good result that ^^.

York floods when people have a piss in the river a bit further up. Every time I've been, I swear the river just about fits under the bridge and all the cafes on the river side have their chairs floating around.

I was watching a load of people on flood plains paddling while my 1000ft above sea level house stayed nice and dry. I even turned my hose pipe on and ran it into a local stream to help the Trent on it way. Wink Can't wait for the ice caps to melt.

Driving from West Bay, Dorset, to Stafford, On the river that was the M5. A 3 hour journey took closer to 9. An Hour after I passed Gloucester, the motorway was closed and people spent the night on the Motorway. Close shave. Rain

I was in the Orkney Islands getting sunburned and riding my motorcycle on hot, dry roads. Two weeks on the road and never had my oilskins on.

The following picture was taken as I was waiting for the ferry from the Isle of Westray to Orkney mainland. As I recall, this was the day when the worst of the floods happened.

I was off work sick, wondering if I was ever going to regain the sight in my eye. A bit of rain was the last thing on my mind.
12 months on, i'm back at work, (and sick of work) and still wondering if I'm going to regain the sight in my eye.
Still not arsed about the rain either.

I was stuck on that motorway, in a service station with fuck all money.

Was pretty fun, there was a coach load of us (polish, german, american and english students) stayed up all night playing cards and complaining, was good!

I was at work. At the time I worked in Defra, and flood management division were next to me.

They were pretty busy.

I was in Sheffield so it was all very exciting Razz

We had a very big puddle in our back yard which threatened to flood our house. Luckily though we realised it was just a blocked drain cover so we freed it up and it went down in about 20 seconds. Scary stuff Very Happy
