Couple of young lads got a total of five years in custody after getting off their face on jellies and booze then riding a 125, three-up along Union Street in Aberdeen, eventually mounting the pavement and crashing into a crowd during a charity procession.

All caught on CCTV.

Way to screw up guys.

The guy on the pillion tried to argue he had nothing to do with it. The sherriff was having none of it and handed down two years for culpable and reckless conduct.

I feel that justice has been served on this occasion.

Anyone who has encountered the Aberdeen University R.A.G. society would probably recognise that description.

So instead of just knocking them down for running, they allowed them to crash into a crowd of innocents? ..

Lets go mess around on the bike, worst we`ll get is a slap on the wrist....

You're right. Something like this is much more appropriate and wouldn't clog the judicial system as much as prison:

Sounds like justice to me, the passengers were willing too, all they had to say was no, and I dont go infor the peer pressure bullshit. They knew it was dangerous.

In the press article it says:

"The pursuing police vehicles were stood down because the incident posed a danger to the public"

Yes it did, resulting in injury to the public. If it had been other countries a quick touch of the back wheel with the police car would have sorted it and only injured those on the bike.

I think the passengers could have had lighter sentences. IE when the pigs got involved if they had said pull over I doubt he would have.

Although they probably didn't.

How much effort would it take to step off the back of a 125 while it was doing a U-turn? Just a case of putting both feet down and standing up so the bike goes out from between your legs I suspect.

From the more detailed reports I heard on radio Scotland, the police effectively blocked one end of the street preventing their escape and they were riding round and round between the road block and the oncoming parade.

REALLY busy street they were on too, right in the centre of Aberdeen, two lanes of traffic and a bus lane heading each way.

That group were supposadly responsible for the theft of quite a few bike in aberdeen and had been eluding police for a few month. They had a thing with running up and down the summerhill straight at lang stracht.

Surprisingly nothing broke, and it wasn't for that long anyway as most fell off in the first 30 yards - partly because of laughing so much. But even if something had there was no point in fixing it. It was an insurance write off (bent frame) that i'd picked up for a few quid that we used to ride over the fields.

Had a lot of fun with that little machine.

looks back fondly on what was a much simpler time...

I hate little doughnuts like this. I run a youth centre n we get so many of em ridin there peds and 125s so dangerously, and the police, if they even bother to try and arrest them, they never catch em anyway.

Too right, make em sit in a cell and see if they actually learn anything.

Because they didn't read the original article. Rolling Eyes

Quote:
Westlake-Tritton and Hunter were detained for three and two years respectively at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.

I would say crashing a motorbike into a crowd of people is more dangerous than having some information on your computer about napalm.

completely justified punishment, the passengers also deserved it, doesn't take a genius to work out if you're a kid that getting on a bike (highly likely none are licenced, insured etc) that it's hardly going to be a gentle trip to the local beauty spot.
