Hello
I passed my cbt a few days ago and now i can ride my Aprilia RS50.
It seems to run fine but on my way home this morning i was going along and suddenly all of my lights blew apart from my indicators. The bike was running fine with no problems apart from the lights brightened when you increased the revs which doesnt seem right. Does any body know what could be the matter with the light systems.
Thanx

lights getting brighter shows your generator is working
you have blown your headlamp bulbs or the fuse.

lol its a 50 so the headlights dont work off the battery (why they cant be turned on when the engine is not running)

They run straight from the alternator (gernerator as some call it lmfao) so when you revv the bike it will create more power, meaning they will get brighter so thats no worry.

As for all the bulbs blewing apart from the indicators it sounds like a power surge but i thought the fuse was meant to prevent the bulbs blewing.

Check the fuse is the correct size. You can check this by looking in the manual and getting the original size.

If they blew again get the electrics checked over by your dealer or another garage.

Your indicators are on a different circuit to you headlights and brake/tail light so thats why they didnt blew.

It's probably the fuse that blew, coz all the bulbs popping together only happens on TV Very Happy

If lights are getting brighter by a large amount you could have a duff battery or regulator/rectifier.

Blow , blowing. Wink

As Geri says check your battery and regulator, you will need a test meter to do it though.

We checked the voltage of the back light when the engine was being revved and the meter was showing up to 25 volts.
Does that mean that the regulator isnt working

buy a new regulator/ rectifier (usually both together in one component)

Hi

Yes. Think the RS50 is a 12V system, so even revved it should only go up to 14~15 volts.

All the best
