Front wheel not straight

Hello all my bike is up for its mot now and i wanted to pick the brains of bcfs learned brethren before i put it in.

basically if i look straight at the front wheel from the front it looks out of line with the mudguard. I always assumed it was the mudguard itself that was off to one side but looking over the bike for its mot it appears not.

While sitting on the bike and looking down over the front wheel with the handlebars straight the mudguard points perfectly foreward but my wheel seems to go off a little to the left.

With the wheel and mudguard being so close to each other can i rule out bent forks ( they do look straight but i have an untrained eye) and what else could it be.

The bike is an old yamaha sr and i will put some pictures up when i get in from work.

Sounds like a classic example of the forks twisting in the yokes.
Stick it on a centrestand, undo the bolts on your yolks, hold the bars and twist the wheel until it looks straight. Then re-tighten

Earlier i tried loosening everything off and straightening it but im still left with the wheel diagonally out of line.
I have trawled the internet but cant seem to get any idea of what it could be.
I have added a really bad paint picture to show what i mean and any help would be greatly appreciated.

hi,
i dunno what kind of nuts/bolts hold your front wheel on,
but looking at your picture it looks like 1 side has been tightened more than other, creating lop-sided effect?
have you had the wheel off recently, to change a tyre for example?
either that or a bent axle.
