Patch of petrol every morning

Every time i get my bike out of the shed, there is a patch of petrol (size varies) underneath where the carb is and where on top of the crankcases, just under the carb is wet.

Ive checked the tap, and made sure it works fine and doesnt leak, the carb gaskets have been replaced. But i cant see where the leak is from, im sure its leaking, then resting on top of the crankcase and then dripping in a little hole in the crankcase and then onto the floor.

I think it could be te breather tube, what could cause this?

check that the drain plug is nice and tight and not leaking.

If it's coming out of one of the carb hoses, then the float might not be sealing properly.

Sometimes they stick and then petrol can leak. Had an old Harley used to do that, I used to give the bottom of the carb a tap with a mallet. Lazy really because when I did get off my backside and empty the bowl it was full of crud! But seeing as yours has recent new seals this probably not the case but try tapping it (rubber mallet).

You NEED to find where its leaking from and fix it. The most common is crap in the float valve stopping it from closing properly but only if its coming out the carbs overflow pipe. Easy job to do as its only float bowl off and clean the float valve.

THanks for the suggestions, i woke up to yet another patch this morning and there is no obvious place it is coming from, The theme seems to be the float.. Ive had the carb off before on a few occasions but im still new to my bike, well any bike, so can i confirm the float is the gold coloured thing with the two like 'balls' on the end, and a pin goes through it to keep it in place?

If i have correctly identified the float, is the float valve the same thing? If it is sticking, how can i tell, or will it be stuck when i take the bottom part of the carb off?

THe bike starts ok, sometimes after leaving it for over an hour or two it requires a bit of choke to get it started and if you take the choke off straight away it dies, but if you leave it on too long it dies, It also feels a bit juddery when riding, like it will lose power then gain power at the same revs and throttle position if you know what i mean, if this makes a diagnosis any easier i thought id tell you

lol by any chance has it got a sports air filter? I have similar problem with the randomly loosing power and then gaining lol. It only does it when it windy though lol! I think it might be the wind blowing on the mesh filter. Its abit annoying!
