Hi

(sorry did try searching but the server apparently has something better to do...)

Need a bit of help, my rear tye has a nail/screw in it, bang in the middle of the tread. i could get it fixed but the tyre is pretty squared off from when i bought it so i figured may as well replace it

so, please could someone

a: suggest a good rear tyre replacement for my gsf 600 mk1 bandit

b: suggest somewhere i could get it from cheap

c: tell me if its worth me attempting to do it or should i get it done

d: tell me if i should change the front at the same time

in truth i think the answer to c is no, but i would never had done brakes on various bikes without the help of this forum so....

thanks...

c- don't bother thinking about it unless you've got a compressor and something to break the tyre bead. Compressor is essential to get air into it quick to seat the new tyre properly.
d. depends on how worn the rear is, used to be two rears for every front replacement but with the modern soft tyre it's now more the norm to do them at the same time.

thanks

c: having read further it seems me doing this is going to be a route to disaster...

d: i dunno, the front seems ok, but in truth part of me just thinks do it now while im in that "mood" and then it should all be done for a while. the rear would be serviceable for a while had this not happened, its not the tread but the nail thats the issue and the squareness (?!)
