Hello Fellas, I have just came back into offroad bikes after 20 years and I need some help.

I have just bought a field converted Honda CLR 125 City Fly.
and would some advice on the Engine ID.

I know it is a 1998 OHC electric start, but I would like to know if the same motor is fitted into the XLR and XR 125,s.

I think it will be easier for me to trace spares and engine big bore kits etc. Also I can not find a haynes manual for this bike so would like to know again if the XLR/XR 125 manual for engine data would be the same.

Thanks, here is a pic

XR125L is OHV = pushrod = Honda CG125 engine.

XL125V Varadero is OHC but its a twin cylinder engine!

Can not find any details about a XLR

Theres no way its a CG engine, unless honda have moved over to OHC in recent years.

If they have done, then they are stupid, there is nothing wrong with OHV and it sure makes top end work easier.

Cheers
John

My bad... Embarassed

I've only been biking a couple of years and when I got my clr125 a friend who has been biking for years took one look and declared it was a cg125 engine. I brought the clr125 manual from a honda dealer anyway. I was going to offer to scan and post it but as it's already here I won't bother.

After looking on the web at pictures of both bikes I have to admit I was wrong. Really sorry to have been the cause of any confusion, I'll try not to let it happen again. Embarassed

I'll also take everything my friend says with a pinch of salt from now on.
