YZ 250 Help!

I have a 1987 YZ 250. On the right hand side engine cover just to the left of the water pump there is a small 6mm bolt that screws into the side cover only and not into the main part of the engine. What is this screw for? Is it just to check oil level, because the oil filler cap does not have a dip stick?

I am near sure your right that it is for the oil level.
Thats the it was back in those days.
